The Troop
The Troop was established in 1932 and has had the Charter Partner of St. Paul Lutheran Church since August 1st, 1967. We meet on Tuesdays during the school year at 7:15PM until 8:30PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 7701 West Michigan State Road 36, Whitmore Lake, MI 48189.

Our Leadership
The Adults, or Ducks as the Scouts refer to us, serve to set boundaries, to lead by example, and to guide and mentor the boys.

Mr. Radde became Scoutmaster at the beginning of 2019. He has been part of the Troop for 4+ years, and experience in Scouting for 7+ years when his son was a Bear Cub Scout. He has held many positions from Cub Committee Member to Den Leader, to Assistant Scoutmaster, and now Scoutmaster. He is an Ordeal member of the Kishahtek Order of the Arrow Lodge, hoping to complete his Brotherhood soon.

Mr. Dan Leonard was Scoutmaster from the year 2000 through 2018, and is now an Assistant Scoutmaster. He has been within the Scouting organization for 23+ years, since his son was a Tiger Cub Scout through Eagle Scout and beyond. He has served many positions within Scouting including Cub Scout Den Leader and Cubmaster, to Troop Treasurer and Assistant Scoutmaster. He is a Vigil member of the Kishahtek Order of the Arrow Lodge.

Mr. Kehn has been an Assistant Scoutmaster for 5+ years and part of Scouting for over 20 years. His 2 eldest sons both achieved the rank of Eagle and his youngest son is currently working towards the rank of Eagle, only needing to complete his project.

Mr. Hines is an extremely valued member of the Troop leadership. He has held every leadership position in the Troop in his time with Scouting, and was the Scoutmaster before Mr. Leonard.

Ms. Ligget has been involved in Scouting for over 6 years since her son joined as a Cub Scout. She has served as Cub Committee Chair and now as the Troop Committee Chair.

Many of our Eagle alumni are still active in the leadership within the troop, including Mr. Bowers, Mr. Caplin, and Mr. McQuade.

About Us
Our primary goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for boys to learn skills and practice leadership. Rank Advancement, Fundraising, Equipment, Service to Others, and High Adventure are all important, but all those are secondary goals that we encounter along the route. The Scouts themselves are responsible, with guidance, to plan both the annual calendar and weekly program activities.

The Troop meets every Tuesday night during the school year. We try to follow the Pinckney Community Schools and Whitmore Lake Public School calendars as much as possible. The last Tuesday of every month is our PLC, or Patrol Leaders Council, where planning for future events takes place. Scouts are encouraged to attend these planning meetings so that they can voice their input. Meetings are typically held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall or classrooms, with occasional meetings held at the Scout Cabin in downtown Hamburg.

As a Troop we try to camp once every month from September to June. For Summer camp we try not to visit the same camp more than 2 years in a row.

Every year around the anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America in February we prepare breakfast for the congregation of St. Paul as a ‘Thank you’ for being our Charter Partner and hosting our Troop. As a Troop we march every year in the Hamburg Memorial Day Parade. We have also participated in the Whitmore Lake 4th of July Parade, and Hamburg Family Funfest.
